Are you looking for a quick and easy way to make delicious brown rice? Look no further than the Instant Pot. In just a fraction of the time it takes to cook on the stove, you can have perfectly fluffy and flavorful brown rice ready to enjoy. Say goodbye to soggy or undercooked rice – with this Instant Pot Brown Rice recipe, you’ll have a foolproof method for perfect rice every time.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup brown rice, rinsed
  • 1 1/4 cups water (or 1 1/2 cups for fluffier rice)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the brown rice thoroughly in a fine-mesh strainer under cold running water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch that can make the rice sticky.
  2. Add the rinsed rice and water to your Instant Pot.
  3. Secure the lid and ensure the pressure valve is set to ” Sealing.”
  4. Pressure cook on High for 20 minutes.
  5. After cooking, you can choose between a natural or quick pressure release:
    • Natural Release: Let the pressure release naturally for 15-20 minutes (the pressure pin will drop). This allows the rice to continue steaming and absorb any remaining moisture.
    • Quick Release: Carefully release any remaining pressure using the quick release method (be cautious of the hot steam).
  6. Once all pressure is released, carefully open the lid and fluff the rice with a fork.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, you can add a pat of butter, a tablespoon of olive oil, or a pinch of salt to the water before cooking.
  • If you prefer brown rice with a slightly chewier texture, reduce the cooking time to 18 minutes.
  • This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled to cook larger batches of rice.
  • Leftover brown rice can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or frozen for longer storage.
