Method
- Rice noodles come in various shapes and sizes, such as vermicelli (thin), pad Thai noodles (medium), and wide rice noodles. Choose the type that suits your recipe.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. There’s no need to add salt or oil to the water.
Cook the Noodles:
- Depending on the thickness of the noodles, the cooking time will vary. Here’s a general guideline:Vermicelli (thin noodles): 3-5 minutesPad Thai noodles (medium noodles): 5-7 minutesWide rice noodles: 7-10 minutes
- Add the rice noodles to the boiling water and stir gently to prevent them from sticking together.
- Check for Doneness:
- Taste a noodle to check if it’s cooked to your desired texture. The noodles should be tender but still slightly firm (al dente).
Drain and Rinse:
- Once the noodles are cooked, drain them in a colander.
- Rinse the noodles under cold water to stop the cooking process and remove excess starch. This helps prevent them from becoming sticky.
Toss with a Little Oil:
- To prevent the noodles from sticking together, toss them with a small amount of oil (such as sesame oil or vegetable oil).
