Strawberry Puree

Strawberries are a lovely treat. Many people love them for their bright colour and sweet taste. But have you ever tried strawberry puree? It’s a versatile ingredient that can elevate your dishes. 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (hulled and chopped)
  • 2–3 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, for brightness)
  • 1–2 tbsp water (if needed for thinning)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Strawberries: Wash, hull (remove stems), and roughly chop the strawberries.
  2. Cook (Optional for Thicker Puree):
    • In a small saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
    • Cook over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until strawberries soften and release juices.
    • (For a raw version, skip cooking and blend directly.)
  3. Blend: Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
    • Add a little water (1–2 tbsp) if too thick for the desired consistency.
  4. Strain (Optional): For a seed-free puree, strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing with a spoon.
  5. Cool & Store: Let it cool before using. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.

Uses:

  • Desserts: Drizzle over cheesecake, ice cream, or yoghurt.
  • Drinks: Mix into lemonade, smoothies, or cocktails.
  • Breakfast: Top pancakes, waffles, or oatmeal.
