Cuisine American
- 2 large russet potatoes (or 3 medium-sized)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (or avocado oil)
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spice level)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
Prep the Potatoes:
Wash and peel the potatoes (optional, you can leave the skin on for extra texture).
Cut them into thin, even strips (about 1/4-inch thick) to ensure they cook evenly.
Soak the Potatoes:
Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes them crispier.
After soaking, rinse and pat them completely dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.
Season the Fries:
In a large bowl, toss the dried fries with olive oil until evenly coated.
In a small bowl, mix all the Cajun spices (paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt).
Sprinkle the spice mix over the fries and toss until they’re evenly coated.
Air Fry:
Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3-5 minutes.
Place the fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer (avoid overcrowding; cook in batches if needed).
Air fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
Check for doneness—fries should be golden brown and crispy.
Serve:
Remove the fries from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute.
Serve with your favourite dipping sauce (e.g., ranch, ketchup, or aioli) and enjoy!
