Ingredients

  • 2 large russet potatoes (or 3 medium-sized)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spice level)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

Instructions

Prep the Potatoes:

  • Wash and peel the potatoes (optional, you can leave the skin on for extra texture).
  • Cut them into thin, even strips (about 1/4-inch thick) to ensure they cook evenly.

Soak the Potatoes:

  • Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes them crispier.
  • After soaking, rinse and pat them completely dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.

Season the Fries:

  • In a large bowl, toss the dried fries with olive oil until evenly coated.
  • In a small bowl, mix all the Cajun spices (paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt).
  • Sprinkle the spice mix over the fries and toss until they’re evenly coated.

Air Fry:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  • Place the fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer (avoid overcrowding; cook in batches if needed).
  • Air fry for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  • Check for doneness—fries should be golden brown and crispy.

Serve:

  • Remove the fries from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute.
  • Serve with your favourite dipping sauce (e.g., ranch, ketchup, or aioli) and enjoy!
